The thing about January is -
it is the red headed stepchild month of the year -
at least in the Northeast -
it's between here and there.
Passed the glory of the holiday and smack into
cold, snow and sheets on sale.
It's not pretty - especially if the snow has
been hanging around -
it's covered in sand, mud and other unmentionables.
We start anew.....or do we hide from the old?
The habits that made fall and early winter
hospitable, toasty and warm like
pumpkin lattes, decorations and booze -
.....now make you question your own sanity.
Like carrying in those 1582 logs for the wood stoves....
which make you feel like this.
...and seriously if I hear "Polar Vortex"
one more time....
It is the month of praying you don't
hear the phone at 6:00 am...
....and of the kids praying you do.
We pull the snowpants down and
duck tape them to the boots.
There is one more wearing before next year
and we have to break down and get more snow pants.
Speaking of snow pants...
They're on, they're off, they're on they're off...
"WHERE ARE THE SNOWPANTS????"
It does bring some good.
Downton Abbey is back.
On Sunday nights there is a
moratorium on anything but PBS,
or else I'm like this.
Soon Call the Midwife will be on too...
Love my British TV!
What do you love/ hate about January?
Siiiigh...I'm dreaming of Spring,
flinging the windows open,
and throwing the snow pants back up in the attic!
Happy Tuesday, Patty
