The last week I have been frozen....
maybe since September.
Our small town suffered two tragedies
in a row leaving us all raw then.
Last Fridays events have made us raw again.
Newtown is only 20 minutes from here.
We've made numerous trips to their $2.00 movie theater.
I sell some jewelry in the small toy shop.
It is a small lovely community
that has suffered unspeakable loss.
I found it hard to Christmas shop
knowing there would be presents
under quite a few trees
that would never be opened.
I am not a girl who's cries easily or often but
this tragedy has been too close to home
in so many ways.
Everyone wants to do something to help.
Extra hugs all the way around,
extra puzzles for Christmas break
( a tradition around here),
each of my boys gets his own gingerbread to decorate,
silly I know, but they are used to sharing.
I just want them to know they are loved.
We even got an extra few outfits
for Tessa.
"Laugh when you can,
apologize when you should,
and let go of what you can't change.
Kiss slowly,
play hard,
forgive quickly,
take chances,
give everything,
and have no regrets.
Life is to short to be anything but HAPPY!"
If anything could come from this it is the first responders
and support of their town itself
that will give them faith in the goodwill
of men again.
Wrap your hearts around those
who lost so much
and our arms around our own families
and let them know how much
they are loved.
Spoil yourself a little too!
Love and Peace, Patty

Patty, I know our hearts are heavy. I thought of you - being particularly close right there in CT. It's such an awful situation - I am so sad for the kids, Sandy Hook students, and for their families. They have been on my mind non stop. Yes, we are truly blessed to have our little ones near.

My heart is still heavy and I still cry when I think of it. I can't imagine what the families are going through. I blogged about it today too.
I made a list of Christmas goodies I'll be making this weekend and made sure everyone gets their favorite. I just want them to know they are loved and special.
